SAN FELIPE
Landing in San Felipe was a huge weight off our shoulders. “We are in MEXICO!”
Two hours south of the Mexicali border, San Felipe is a beautiful community with a thriving fishing scene. It’s also an easy destination for baby boomin’ ex-pats to sit back and enjoy margaritas (also known as Snow Birds).
We highly recommend our stay at La Palapa RV Camp, a very relaxing destination to spend a few days. We arrived just after Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), the city was alive with festivities. Not to mention a prawn festival took over the main streets of town. Jimmy Buffet cover bands kept the ex pats dancing and the margaritas flowing. Vince was the center of attention and gained his new nickname ‘Perrito’ aka the cute, fat, healthy dog.
We decided to post up in San Felipe for three days to enjoy the sunshine and mellow water after our long journey south. Fully soaking in our first views of Mexico. A perfect way to begin the trip! We learned a lot from our neighbors regarding places to explore down south, caught a women’s softball game and said hello to Mexico - our home for the next 4 months.
