SANTA CRUZ

Blasted through foggy PNW to land in sunny Santa Cruz.

Obligatory stop at In & Out, Vince was stoked on his burger patty breakfast. Traffic levels were extreme as we pulled onto the 101 and finally into Seabright State Beach campground.  After a solid twenty four hours in the truck we were all happy to get our paws in the ocean.

The next morning the boardwalk was a ghost town, we wandered through Santa Cruz and got our first taste of Baja at San Fernando Taqueria. Stopped at a few local surf shops and stocked up on crafty beer and wine. Next stop, south to Big Sur!

BIG SUR

The 17 mile drive through Big Sur has been on my bucket list for years. We were met with spectacular weather and stunning views. The driving was tough through steep cliff edges, winding turns, skinny lanes, and not to mention ‘someone who’s afraid of heights’ in the passenger seat.

Setup camp at Kirk Creek and headed down to the beach for sunset. Found a secluded area to put the drone up and let Vince play in the sand as we watched some little groms catch washed out waves.

Headed back up to camp and made our first fire of the trip. A gorgeous evening full of stars and strong winds. Next stop, Palm Springs!

PALM SPRINGS

We arrived to Palm Springs on Halloween eve, had a great meal at the Draughtsman (ahi tacos, golden beets, peppercorn saison) finished with a quick dip in the hotel hot tub.

Our intention was to cross the boarder into Mexicali the next morning but with several last minute errands to run, we decided to stay another night. Posted up at the RV park in town and spent the evening amongst the “Ran & Nance’s of SoCal”. Not a bad deal as we filled our 20 gallon tank with water vs spending the $100 Whole Foods sold gallons for. Next stop, Mexicali border crossing!
